Let me explain…

23 Jan

Under certain circumstances there are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony know as afternoon tea.
– Henry James

Up until just a few hours ago, I was completely unsure what to blog about. I really love travel, and I love food, and I love New York, but I wasn’t sure I would be able to maintain going to the city every week to do something new — especially because I have so many other things and stressors in my life.

Just when I really started to panic, I told myself — as I tell myself quite often — just sit down with some tea, relax and you’ll figure it out. That’s when I realized I might have something.

Confession : I have 11 boxes of tea, and two bottles of loose leaf. I own 6 mugs (which somehow do fit in my Walsh cabinets along with food and my roommates’ things), my favorite of which was given to me by my roommate last year for Christmas. It’s decked out with a Union Jack and a play on “Keep Calm and Carry On” — Keep Calm and Have a Hot One. Thus, this blog’s title. (The fact that the Union Jack is on my mug could spawn an entirely different, slightly more embarrassing blog about the number of English-related things I own).

Now, I have found that whenever I am relaxing, stressed out, in a good Saturday afternoon mood, or the like, I usually have a cup of tea. So, as I used the tea break to relax and figure out what my blog topic would be, I will use my tea breaks/time to reflect on the stressors, adventures, excitement and experiences of my last semester… as well as my future plans.

Today was Earl Grey: my go -to cup of tea. Actually, 2 of the 11 boxes I own are Earl Grey.

I’m also a tea drinker, I can’t have coffee due to migraines. Earl Grey is also my go-to cup, it’s the best.
